Objective
Recipe For Disaster is disastrously simple. Earn 5 Stars in order to win the competition! Three Stars are awarded at the end of each Round: one for the “Most Edible,” another for the “Most Creative,” and one for the “Biggest Disaster”!
Cards
There are three kinds of cards you can use (excluding Stars): Utilities, Ingredients, and Secret Ingredients. Utilities are signified by the two cross-shaped screw symbols on their backs. The remaining cards are either Ingredients (light back) or Secret Ingredients (dark back)!
Utilities (Microwaved), Ingredients (Potatoes), Secret Ingredients (Eel)
Setup
Lay out all of the Utilities for everyone to see. Shuffle the Ingredients and Special Ingredients into one deck and place that deck face-down and equidistant from all players. Set up a timer for 2:00 (two minutes).
Time to Cook!
Start the timer! You now have until the timer runs out to choose ONE Utility for this Round and draw as many Ingredients and Special Ingredients as you can to craft your very finest dish.
Here’s the catch: you are only allowed to hold ONE Ingredient or Special Ingredient in your hand at a time!
Add Ingredients by connecting them to your Utility or other Ingredients, matching the corner arrows. To complete your dish, all arrows on your Utility must be used!
I present to you: Chicken Flambéd in a Honey Chive glaze with a kick of Cayenne Peppers and a dash of… ketchup?
If you don’t wanna use the Ingredient in your hand, you can place it face-up into a communal “cupboard” pile of Ingredients for all players to choose from (but remember, all players may only have one Ingredient in their hand at a time!). If you draw a Special Ingredient, you MUST play it no matter what. That said, you can place the Special Ingredient on ANY player’s dish, including your own! Special Ingredients can make or break dishes, so watch out!
Well, this was a disaster!
You are only able to earn a Star at the end of each Round if you have a completed dish. Meaning, all corners of your Utility have been used. If you have a completed dish, then dish out Stars to each player’s dish based on three core values: Most Edible, Most Creative, and Biggest Disaster! You can nominate a judge, vote, have a fistfight… whatever floats your boat!
That wasn’t on the shopping list…We’ve included an optional blank sheet in the print-out so that you can create your very own Recipes For Disaster. Inside jokes, dirty ingredients, you name it - add it to the stack and prepare for trouble!
